CenTrio’s work with LSU began in 2000 with the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and ultimately led to the partnership on the Baton Rouge campus. The trust CenTrio formed through our operations in New Orleans created the opportunity to partner again with LSU supporting critical work on their main campus.
This P3 project immediately addressed energy needs on LSU’s campus. The initial modernization project included a new 175 kpph boiler, 8,200 feet of distribution system, electrical infrastructure and the addition of 20,000 tons of chilling capacity. Our team worked hand in hand with LSU to deliver these upgrades in a manner that caused minimal disruption to campus life.
At LSU Baton Rouge, CenTrio utilized a hybrid P3 concession structure to tailor our concession agreement to the unique needs of the university. The initial modernization work is structured as an Availability Payment project, while the future capital improvements are under a rate-base structure. This feature allows for continual investment in the utility system.
